The Hammock

Our hammock is out and has been seeing lots of action this week in the gorgeous spring weather.  It was 25 degrees on Wednesday so we've also had to stock up on ice-cream!

Work/Party Weekend

This weekend we held a work/party weekend where we invited lots of friends and family to come and if they wanted, help do some jobs around the farm...
This went fantastically and we got sooo much done it's unbelievable! I've posted about all the different jobs below....

I was (predictaby) in charge of food and children, here are my 2 very favourite helpers!

There was a buffet with different homemade breads, eggs, tuna etc for lunch.  Ane's gran made lovely cakes for tea and there was Chile non narni for dinner. We ended up eating dinner in one of the outbuildings as there was so many of us!

We had a very big bonfire on the night.

Even though eveyone worked really hard there was still time for drinks and baby cuddling ; ) Here's Steffan's mum, Christian's mum and Ane's mum, don't worry there's still lots for Caroline's mum when she comes!
(Steffen, Ane, Christian  and Caroline bought the farm together)

Tree planting

On sunday afternoon after all our helpers had gone home, we went to the top of the field and started to plant our own little wood!

The ground was really hard so Christian had to use a pick axe so we could dig some holes!

We planted about 30 Larch trees that we were given by a very kind neighbour : )

New storage room

In one of the outhouses there were 2 rooms which were blocked off. Steffen and his friend drilled into the stone and  made doorways so we can use the rooms for storage.

Wood chopping and storing..

Our heating system uses wood so Christian and Steffen have been in the forest chopping trees down.  This is a big project as then it has to be collected by tractor then chopped and stacked....

It's a very big pile of logs, and still more to come from the forest!

Steffen, Tobias and Ole (Ane's dad) built a great new shelter to store the wood.

It's open so the wood can dry out and be ready to burn in about a year's time.

Plant relocation!

Katrine gave Alfie a lift in the wheelbarrow..
It was gorgeous weather all weekend : )

Some big plants and bushes were moved on to the field so we can have a bigger lawn.

Wow, people worked really hard all day! There was even someone who mowed all the grass!

Roofless

Thomas dismantled and took the roof off the old hen house : ) This is just great as it's been such a hazard and I've been so worried about it just blowing off or caving in!

That whole house will eventually come down and Steffen and Ane will have a garden there.

The mural...

Steffen's friend Johan is an artist who lives in Copenhagen, he came to visit and created this fantastc mural on the side of the 'Maskin hus/ machine house'.

Johan's coming back soon to finish it off : )

Here you can see the old hen house without it's roof, hooray!

Grandad's visit

We said 'bye bye' to Grandad Hart today after his 2 week stay with us here in DK.  We've all had a great time.  Dad got some great work done for us in the garden - thinning the raspberry canes and building a fancy new cold frame : ) We also had a  lovely easter holiday with Christian's family in their summerhouse where the boys went out in a boat and did some fishing.

Alfie and Molly have both enjoyed having Grandad here and so have their parents!
