A Christmassy weekend, Sunday

On Sunday, our village had their christmas party. Here's C lighting the real candles on the tree in the village hall, about 2 mins from our house.

There are lots of young families in the village so its nice to meet up..

We danced and sang around the tree. Father Christmas came too and gave out goody bags : )

Molly and me. I can't believe it was only a year ago I was holding a little 2 month old molly at the christmas party and there she is now a proper little girl clapping and dancing!
Hope you all had a lovely weekend x

A christmassy weekend, Saturday

Saturday we went into Århus centre to look at a christmas market and had a walk down the high street.

One of the big department stores has a very exciting window display with elves and a christmas whale!?!

Farfar and Farmor looked after Alfie and Molly on saturday afternoon and evening while c and I went to his work christmas party. They went to an animal park with deer and went to look at some christmas lights in a residential area, which is quite unusual here in dk, there's hardly any flashy colourful lights. I can't find our flashy lights anywhere so we've just got some tasteful white ones in a tree, nobody will guess i'm not a stylish dane!

A Christmassy weekend, Friday night

On Friday night we had a christmas dinner with C's family and some of their family friends, its a tradition we follow every year. This is how C's mum Ingelise decorates the house for xmas, red hearts hung from the ceiling, its so pretty. The christmas tree comes on christmas eve (the danish christmas day).

Molly and Lise

We exchange prezzies after dinner, just like the traditional Danish christmas. Alfie got a farm which he is very happy with, the following morning as soon as he woke he went to find the tractor!

Johannes also loved his farm set : )

Happy December!

We're all getting into the christmas spirit now, with lots of songs and cookies : )

This photo was taken last weekend when we celebrated the first advent sunday with Johannes, Lotte, Preben and Ingelise. We did a little bit of crafting - we decorated some baubles, made danish xmas sweeties - lots of marcipan, nougat and choc and shared advent prezzies. Prezzies included an advent candle, a cinema date, jigsaw, personalized baubles and scatch card calenders!

Johannes and Alfred hanging out by the christmas tree, which hangs in the lounge!!

This weekend we've been to Århus to help Preben chop firewood, I've been to mother group with the kids today (sunday) and done some secret christmas crafting this afternoon. A very nice weekend, all in all.

We've put a christmas tree up in the yard at the front, the boys went and chopped it down last weekend and it's now decorated with lanterns, oranges and decorative mini pumpkins ; )

Our favourite elves with homade hats, its all about the elves in Denmark around christmas time...
We have some cheeky elves at the kindergarten where I work who turned the milk pink last week! This week they have plans to give out cookies and hide coats!

Tuesday 1 December 2009

Oh dear our little Molly had a nasty fall today at daycare! I got a call to say she had fallen from a bike onto a Lego, so Caroline drove from work to have a look and the to the doctor to get a stitch-up! She was a trooper and is now as good as new!

Sprouts

The weekend...
Saturday morning, Alfie came to get me out of bed and show me waffles and a cup of tea on the table, heavenly!
We then went to Mariager, and ran some errands in the supermarket, library and post office.

Christian did some work in the workshop, smoothing out the floor on sat. afternoon.

Alfie didn't want a nap so we went in the garden and found some sprouts.
Later in the evening c and i watched a film (Mr Magorirum's Magical Empororium) and ate mint choc brownie cupcakes, all lovely! I borrowed a new cupcake cookbook from the library with 400 different recipies........ ; )

Sunday morning we went swimming.

Hope you're having a good weekend x

Remember, Remember the 5th of November...

Peekaboo!

Sleeping Beauties

Happy 5th November. It's just a normal day in Denmark and practically no-one has heard of Guy Faulkes but we had a get together anyway, we had a little bonfire and we even had a few fireworks so Alfie and Christian were happy. We ate sausages (soy for us and proper danish sausages for C' sfamily), beans and jacket pots, very english with toffee apples for pud.
Hope you had a good bonfire night....

Molly's party cont.

Faster/Aunty Lotte and Katrine, Uncle Leif's carer.

Uncle Leif and Great Granny tucking into hot choc and whipped cream.

Alfie, Selma; Nikolai and Aisha enjoying all the sweet things!

Lotte made a gorgeous cinnamon cake with caramel icing and her famouse muffins with white choc. I made a victoria sponge, following Hugh F T's recipie in his family cookbook, you can't buy self raising flour over here so i guessed with baking powder and it wasn't the same! We also had traditional Danish sweet bread buns and for dinner later Preben made seafood paella with choc. moouse for pud, mmmmm. : )

All in all we had a great day with family and good friends, although we were missing some in hosp and UK!
Molly was our little star : )

Molly's first birthday!

Grandad helping Molly open her prezzies, she got a pair of homemade trousers from mummy and daddy!

The horses that live at the top of our field escaped to come and say hello, much to everyone's delight : )

Alfie made Molly a collage, he helpfully opened the prezzie too ; )

Molly got a new winter hat from Farmor, she knit it Tuesday night while waiting to go to hosp. Sadly she missed the party as she was having a little op but has come out today so that's great and she's feeling much better.

Thanks to Catherine in Canada for the top, fits perfectly and trousers are lovely, we all loved the fold out card, alfie insisted on eating lunch today with it! Can't wait to see Molly in the pjs from Claire in London, they are so cute! Thank you xxxx
